Green Building Certification 4.1 Rainwater Management & 4.2 Rainwater & Effluent Ground Water Use
- 4.1 Rain water Management has total score of 5.
- 4.2 Rain water & Effluent Ground Water Use has total score of 4.
Detailed Criteria of Green Building Certification Evaluation 4.1 Rain water Management
Purpose | By controlling rain water in lots using Low Impact Development (LID) technique or Green Infrastructure (GI) facility, urban flooding and water pollution can be reduced while minimizing distorted water circulation due to development. Moreover, reduced rain water runoff not only saves the construction cost of sewerage infrastructure, etc. and maintenance cost, but also improves underground water preservation, soil ecosystem maintenance and microclimate. |

Low Impact Development (LID) technique or Green Infrastructure (GI) facility refer to a land use planning technique (detention tank, infiltration trench, infiltration channel, permeable pavement, etc.)and a rainwater controlling facility based on soil and vegetation in consideration of rainwater infiltration, detention and water circulation system to reduce city flooding and water pollution. They refer to cost-efficient and environment-friendly rainwater controlling facilities (rainwater garden, roadside green area, tree filtering (tree filtering box, etc.)
Rainwater management area refers to the area excluding natural soil area from the total area.
Impervious surface refers to the ratio of the impermeable area to non-rainwater-infiltrative land whose surface is covered with pavement, building, etc.
Detailed Criteria of Green Building Certification Evaluation 4.2 Rainwater & Effluent Ground Water Use
Purpose | Efficient use of rainwater and effluent ground water as an alternative water resource can help reduce water supply and rainwater runoff. Active utilization of such an alternative water resource could also help decrease the energy required for water supply. |

Direct utilization facility refers to the kind of facility having the structure to directly make use of rainwater from building surfaces in gardening, etc. without passing through a tank, etc. such as a rooftop green facility or green garden connecting facility in rainwater drainpipe.
Rainwater/effluent ground water tank refers to a tank detain rainwater and effluent ground water or building or retention installed on land or building for the uses of watering, gardening, toilet washing, cleaning, etc.
Retention place of effluent ground water should be installed in accordance with the Enforcement Decree of the Ground Water Act.
It should be planned to utilize rainwater/effluent ground water preferentially than water supply.
In the case of medical facilities subject to the Act on Promotion and Support of Water Reuse, it is recognized when 5% of the capacity regulated in the Enforcement Decree of the Act is additionally installed.
